About CGS
Built to grow coral. Built to last.
Corals in the wild and those in ocean-based nurseries remain under constant threat of bleaching, therefore we see an urgent need for land-based aquaculture as ocean temperatures continue to rise.

The problem we solve
Most coral programs aren't built to scale, or to survive the weather.
Many coral aquaculture programs lack the modern infrastructure to scale coral growth. Facilities often fail to consistently see results, and are unable to protect their corals when faced with extreme weather events.
Our solution is to provide intuitive, cutting edge, long-lasting aquaculture systems that allow for successful cultivation and restoration of delicate and threatened coral species. With decades of coral aquaculture experience, the CGS team works to design the most efficient systems with the greatest long-term coral growing capabilities.
Founder
Max Ivers
Fascinated by aquariums since childhood, Washington DC native Max Ivers can fondly recall some of his earliest aquarium memories at the National Aquarium and National Zoo with his family. Spending most of his free time building and maintaining an ever-growing number of aquariums from elementary school onward, he expanded from freshwater to brackish to saltwater, keeping live corals by the time he was in high school.
Max started his aquarium career working in a saltwater fish and coral store in a local strip mall, and quickly moved to work for local aquarium equipment manufacturer Avast Marine Works. It was here Max was exposed to commercial-sized aquaculture systems and equipment, and gained a great deal of experience working with PVC and other components. Attending the University of Miami led him to intern at the Coral Morphologic lab starting in 2012, and he has been on the coral growing journey ever since.
While attending business school at American University, Max worked cleaning commercial and residential aquariums. After graduation, he completed a number of facilities and projects in Miami, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic.
Max looks forward to continuing to bring his entrepreneurial perspective to the coral aquaculture sector.

How we work
Design → build → support
01
Drafting & design
We start with detailed AutoCAD and SketchUp mockups — so you can see exactly what we'll build before a single tank is set.
02
Fabrication & install
We fabricate and install every system on-site, from grow-out tubs and filtration to climate control and backup power.
03
Organizational support
We don't disappear after handoff. We train your team and provide ongoing maintenance so the facility keeps performing.
